Two UMass Medical School health policy experts will be panelists at the World Congress Summit on Managed Long Term Services and Supports Feb. 23 and 24 at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.
Alexis D. Henry, ScD, OTR/L I, director of the Disability, Health and Employment Policy Unit within UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division, will be on a three-member panel, “Support LTSS Member Integration through Meaningful Employment.”
Henry will talk about the research in the field and the role of health plans and long-term services and supports in supporting employment. Laurie Mills, regional director of The Center for Recovery Education and Wellness (CREW) at Magnolia House in North Carolina, will discuss supported employment from a service provider perspective. Laura Vegas, director of Employment and Community First (ECF) CHOICES and SelectCommunity for BlueCare Tennessee, will talk about the managed care perspective of employment. The panel discussion will run from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Feb. 24.
Marybeth McCaffrey, JD, principal in Commonwealth Medicine’s Center for Health Law and Economics, will participate in a three-member panel discussion, “Implement Quality Measures to Improve LTSS Member Experience,” from 3:15 to 4 p.m. Feb. 24.
The panelists will discuss how outcome data can enable long-term services and supports providers to focus on more effectively meeting beneficiaries’ needs, how service settings data can be used by consumers, advocates and policy makers, and quality measure tools that can be implemented for immediate use. The other panelists are: Reba Landry, Aging and Disability Resource Connection and Long Term Service coordinator for Community Resources for Independent Living, and Kristen Pavle, MSW, director of Long Term Services and Supports for the Community Care Alliance of Illinois. Deborah Krider, EdD, chief operating officer for Granite State Independent Living, will moderate.
