The new Center of Child Wellbeing and Trauma (CCWT) has received enormous response from child advocates, teachers, and communities across Massachusetts. The center’s executive director Audrey Smolkin and the Massachusetts Office of the Child Advocate Director Maria Mossaides recently talked about the center with Massachusetts State Senator Harriette Chandler on her show “Beacon Hill Chat” on WCCA TV.
In the interview, Smolkin and Mossaides discuss how the CCWT provides organizations and professionals with trauma-informed and responsive resources – available virtually on the CCWT’s website and through in-the-field trainings – to help children thrive and grow into healthy adults. Smolkin also talks about the initial successes and positive outcomes the program has seen since its official launch in 2021 and how the center can be a model for addressing childhood trauma in states across the country.
