Colombo, previously president and CEO of UMass Memorial-Clinton Hospital, joined Commonwealth Medicine in the fall of 2018. In the interview she discusses her transition from health care delivery to health care consulting and finding ways to leverage her extensive background in nursing and health service delivery to support the values and “strong culture of respect and accountability” she feels makes Commonwealth Medicine unique.

Throughout the interview, Colombo also comes back to the idea of Commonwealth Medicine’s staff being the key to the organization’s current and future success. “Wherever I go, I encounter Commonwealth Medicine staff who are engaging every day with people who depend on us for services…they handle it with such grace and compassion…it inspires me to make sure I perform my role with that same commitment.”

A new issue of @umassmed magazine will be released twice a year as part of UMass Medical School’s ongoing initiative to share news about the research, academic, and service achievements that take place every day on our campuses.
