Congratulations to Paul L. Jeffrey, PharmD, who was recently elected by the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) to serve as president of its board of directors. Jeffrey is pharmacy director for the MassHealth Office of Clinical Affairs, the clinical support unit staffed by Commonwealth Medicine.
Jeffrey will be sworn in at AMCP 2020, the organization’s annual meeting, which will take place in April.
AMCP is the national professional society dedicated to advancing the practice of pharmaceutical care in the managed care environment. Its mission—to improve patient health by ensuring access to high-quality, cost effective medications and therapies—aligns closely with our mission at Commonwealth Medicine.
As MassHealth’s pharmacy director, Jeffrey is responsible for managing the clinical, operational and financial components of the state’s Medicaid pharmacy benefit for approximately 850,000 MassHealth members.
Jeffrey also is a clinical associate professor within the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Medical School, and is nationally-recognized for his writing, presentations and education sessions on the value, safety, and outcomes of drug therapy.
